Nalini and the Lotus Flower
Since 1997, some people has contacted me in the worldwide web to ask what does "Nalini" mean. I just knew there was something about the lotus flower. It was so many people, from all over the world, courious, lotus lovers, tattoos seekers, others Nalinis and "pregnat" couple searching the meaning of Nalini to name theirs daughters. I don't have relatives in India but my name came from there. Actually, came from a book about Paramahansa Yogananda . With some help from other "Nalinis" and indians around the world, I got some words to explain the meaning of it. "Nalini" is an indian name. The word "Nalini" literally translates to lotus flower (in Sanskrit). The lotus flower has a very special meaning in hinduism. It symbolizes purity and beauty. Since it is a very pretty flower breeding in muddy water, it also signifies that the bringing out of beauty and pure even when the surroundings are harsh/dirty. In other translations, Nalini is the same as "gayatri" which is the "mother of the Vedas". Vedas are ancient hindu texts. Another meaning could be the mother of wisdom. (Thanks to Nalini Belaramani, Palanisamy Ramasamy e Sreenivas). The lotus flower is admired in India and Japan as a spirituality flower. Lotus seed can resist more than 5000 years without water, just waiting the perfect humid condition to germinate. Lotus sprouts in the mud underwater and only opens in surface to show their luminous and immaculate petals (witch are self cleaner). Lotus also can keep its temperature in 35ºC (95ºF), just as the human body. The button flower has a hart shape and the petals doesn't fall when flower dies, they just dry. The highest spiritual knowledge is compared to 1000 petals lotus flower, in the top of the head, as a spread of conscience. To see others "Nalini" around the world, visit my GuestMap.
